The New Jersey Repertory Company is proud to announce that it is the recipient of a 2011 Edgerton Foundation New American Plays Award for the world premiere production of Jack Canfora's "Jericho", directed by Evan Bergman.
"Jericho" was recently selected to be read at the National New Play Network Showcase of New Plays in Denver, Colorado – and – will receive Rolling World Premieres starting with NJ Rep's production, followed by productions at Phoenix Theatre in Indianapolis, and Florida Studio Theatre in Sarasota.
Set in Manhattan and its suburbs, Jack Canfora's "Jericho" is a thought-provoking comic-drama that explores how people cope with collective and personal tragedy. Canfora's characters are touchingly human, struggling to learn what it means to belong to another person and to a larger community, all while figuring out how to meet their own needs. With surprising humor, Jericho undertakes some of the larger and more troubling questions of American life without forgetting that every struggle, even political ones, is ultimately personal.
