CAPE MAY STAGE PRESENTS BROADWAY AND CABARET STAR, KAREN AKERS, IN "AN EVENING OF COLE PORTER: ANYTHING GOES"
(Cape May, NJ) -- Cape May Stage, South Jersey's premiere Equity theatre, is bursting with delight as they welcome Broadway and cabaret star, Karen Akers, as she brings her enthralling show, An Evening of Cole Porter: Anything Goes, to the theatre. Join Ms. Akers as she performs an incredible assortment of beloved songs by this treasured American songwriter on Monday, July 22 at 8 p.m.
Broadway and cabaret star, Karen Akers, is a Tony Award-nominee and star of the original Broadway productions of Nine and Grand Hotel. She has been touring the country with her enchanting Porter tribute, An Evening of Cole Porter: Anything Goes, with stops at such acclaimed venues like The Kennedy Center in D.C. and the Algonquin Hotel in New York City. This is the first time she is performing at Cape May Stage.
The elegant and gifted Akers will perform a diverse repertoire of Porter classics filled with his trademark beautiful melodies and witty lyrics, including favorites like I Get a Kick Out of You, I Love Paris, Always True to You (In My Fashion), the title song Anything Goes and the show-stopping Begin the Beguine. She will also dazzle with charming lesser-known Porter tunes.
An Evening of Cole Porter: Anything Goes is part of Cape May Stage's acclaimed Second Stage Series. This completely entertaining cabaret show will run Monday, July 22 at 8 p.m. at the Robert Shackleton Playhouse at the corner of Bank & Lafayette Streets in downtown Cape May. Tickets are $50 and include an after party at the Wine Bar at the Washington Inn, Cape May's hip, relaxing, contemporary meeting place at the corner of Washington and Jefferson Streets.
