Sheli Aarden And Keith Monacchio Captain "The Bloody Marys" In Charity Softball Tournament

(NEPTUNE, NJ) -- The Asbury Rock Stars Charity Softball Tournament returns to the Jersey Shore on Saturday, August 27th with representatives from many of the area's top rock and roll bands and industry professionals.  Songwriters Sheli Aarden and Keith Monacchio will each serve as co-captains of "The Bloody Marys" team who are playing to raise money for the Monmouth County SPCA.  Last year Aarden personally raised $1,000 for the SPCA last year and hopes to double that amount this time.

"My personal goal is to raise $2000 this year and together we can make that happen, as well as do something great for a special charity!" said Aarden.

The softball tournament will take place at Bert Willis field (775 Old Corlies Ave) in Neptune, NJ from 10am-6pm. This family friendly event will feature eight teams comprised of your favorite local artists, musicians (including names such as Status Green, Glen Burtnik, Rick Barry, Anthony Walker, The Parlor Mob, Ben Franklin and more) and industry professionals,  battling it out on the field to support numerous local and national charities. The players will participate in eight slow pitch softball games, to raise donations for the charity of their choice. This event will include prizes and commemorative merchandise. With a current of 150+ players, a large and lively group of spectators is anticipated.

Asbury Rocks Stars Charities were the recipients of the 2009 Asbury Music Award for "Best Thing To Happen."  Asbury Rock Stars Charity Softball tournament has raised nearly $40,000 for local and national charities since it's inception in 2007. Last year's charity recipients  include The Boys and Girls Club of Asbury Park, The Monmouth County SPCA, Live Strong, Food Banks of Monmouth and Ocean County, Wag On Inn, Reading is Fundamental, Partners In Health, and The American Autoimmune Related Disease Association (AARDA).

Two benefit concerts for the Asbury Rock Stars Charity Softball Tournament will be held in July and August at the Sand Witch in Asbury Park to help raise money.  Performance dates will be announced shortly.  Businesses may also help sponsor the Asbury Rock Stars Charity Softball Tournament.  In exchange for their donation, businesses will get their name on the tournament program and official tournament website.
