Skyline finishes season with lots of laughs in Neil Simon's Barefoot in the Park

(Bergen County, NJ) -- Skyline Theatre Company (STC) in Fair Lawn finishes its 10th anniversary season with a comedy classic. Love and laughter are the focus of Neil Simon's 1960's comedy, Barefoot in the Park, which will be presented May 12-15 at the Fair Lawn Community Center at 10-10 20th Street in Fair Lawn. The production is directed by STC Managing Artistic Director Sam Scalamoni.

Barefoot in the Park is a wonderfully fun romantic comedy which opened on Broadway in October of 1963 starring Elizabeth Ashley and Robert Redford. Nominated for three Tony Awards it was Neil Simon's longest-running hit and the tenth longest-running play in Broadway history. Made into a film in 1967 starring Robert Redford, Jane Fonda and Charles Boyer, Barefoot finds the newlyweds in their too-expensive new apartment with bad plumbing and a broken skylight. After a six-day honeymoon, they get a surprise visit from Corie's mother and decide to play matchmaker during a dinner with their neighbor-in-the-attic, Velasco.  Everything that can go wrong does go wrong.

The Skyline cast features New York actress Melanie Beck as Corie, the free spirited newlywed married to Paul, a buttoned up lawyer played by Dustin Charles (seen before in STC's Proof) also from New York. Sue Boland (STC's Man of LaMancha) of Clifton plays Corie's Westchester mother and Brian Milli (STC's Proof and Driving Miss Daisy) of Harrington Park their intriguing neighbor Victor Velasco.

Skyline Managing Artistic Director Sam Scalamoni is "thrilled to be embarking on such a great comedy script! It is one treasure after another when you work on a Simon play."
