(BELMAR, NJ) -- The town a few miles away
gets all the hype, but Belmar has done a pretty good job of hosting live
music this year. Between shows organized by the town in Pyanoe Plaza
on Main Street to WBJB (90.5 The Night) presenting great acts on the 5th
Avenue Boardwalk, the town is beginning to shed its reputation as
strictly a covers bar location.
One man who has been
instrumental in the town's musical evolution is Danny White, owner of
Beach Music Studios and long-time Jersey Shore rocker. In 2012, White
launched the Belmar Music & Arts Festival along with Belmar Mayor
Matt Doherty. The festival returns for a second straight year on
Tuesday, August 27 at the 5th Avenue Boardwalk from 6pm to 9pm.
This
year's festival features performances by Danny White & Band (who
will be releasing their 2nd CD of original music within the last year
and a half) and The Pat Roddy Band. Both White and Roddy are proud to
call Belmar home. Also performing will be the Beach Music Rock Band --
students from Danny's studio.
The Belmar Music & Arts Festival
was created to celebrate Belmar's rich history of original music &
arts. From Gershwin vacationing on Ocean Ave in the 1920's to Bruce
Springsteen putting the E-Street Band together on Belmar's E Street
& 10th Avenue and to thriving music and arts scene today. Live
performances can often be seen throughout the bars and coffeehouses in
town from Connelly's Station to Stay Gold. Many would be amazed to
learn of the artists who have performed in Belmar.
Last
year's festival attracted a huge crowd to the beach and boardwalk for a
great night of music. If you're looking for something fun to do during
the last week of summer, come out to Belmar for the free show!
