Six-time Grammy
Award-winning singer, songwriter, record producer, actress, and
philanthropist Toni Braxton kicks off her solo North American tour on
August 9 in Las Vegas in support of her upcoming album with 10-time
Grammy singer, songwriter, producer, and entrepreneur Kenny "Babyface"
Edmonds. The album is set to be released by Motown Records in the fall.
Toni
Braxton's musical career began when she was a child singing in the
church choir. From there, she performed in a group with her four sisters
and was recognized by Arista Records' own, Antonio L.A. Reid and
Kenneth Babyface Edmonds. Soon after, her solo career boomed with her
music being featured on movie soundtracks and selling over 10 million
albums worldwide. With the release of her second album Secrets in 1996
singles like, "Un-break My Heart" and "You're Makin' Me High" soared to
the top of the charts. "Un-break My Heart" has become her signature
song and still ranks as the second top-selling single of all time by a
female artist.
Along with her Grammy Awards and hit
singles, Braxton has had successful runs starring on hit Broadway shows
like, Beauty and the Beast and Aida. Additionally, in 2006 she headlined
her own show in Las Vegas, "Toni Braxton Revealed" which was a huge
success for her career.
Braxton is no stranger to the
television world either. She fulfilled one of her big dreams of
appearing on Dancing with the Stars in 2008. She is also enjoying huge
success alongside her sisters with the reality TV show Braxton Family
Values, which just completed its third season on WE TV.
Braxton
ranks charity high on her list and holds it very dear to her heart.
Along with being a spokesperson for Autism Speaks, Braxton is very
active with the American Heart Association. She was recently awarded the
Lupus LA award for "Women of Achievement."
