(PRINCETON, NJ) PST's production of Crimes of the Heart opened with guffaws and applause. Beth Henley's Pulitzer-winning dark comedy runs the gamut from the absolutely ludicrous to the touchingly genuine. In the Magrath family, a “really bad day” involves a horse struck by lightning, an attempted murder, a suicide or two, and a number of other little tragedies. Over 24 hours, three sisters facing a seemingly insurmountable jumble of crises learn they can overcome the impossible as long as they have each other. July 11th-14th, Thurs-Sat at 8pm and Sat & Sun at 2pm. Tickets are $25, $20 for students.
PST also enchanted local families with the opening of its annual children's show last Thursday, How Thumbelina Found Her Wings. Join Thumbelina and her kooky cohorts on an imaginative journey full of music, audience participation, and lots of laughs. The Children's Show will perform July 11th-13th, 25th-27th, August 1st-3rd, and August 8th-10th at 11am. Autograph sessions with the cast follow every performance!
This Friday, PST continues its 2013 Young Artist's Workshops series. This week's session is Foundations of Playwrighting, a storytelling workshop! PST offers its Young Artist's Workshops every Friday through August 9th from 1:30-4:30pm. $35 per workshop, drop-ins always welcome. Register by emailing princetonsummertheater@gmail.com.
