(Lakewood, NJ) -- As part of its 90th anniversary celebration in 2012, the historic Strand Theater is compiling a commemorative ad journal. The journal will be distributed at all shows and special events during the year, and at other locations throughout Ocean and Monmouth County. Up to 50,000 patrons visit the Strand each year.
Advertising options range from $75 for a quarter page to $1,000 for a Curtain Call ad, which includes a prominently featured full-page plus two tickets to the 90th Anniversary Autumn Gala and four tickets to the performance of your choice. Full and half pages also are available.
"We invite local businesses, patrons of the arts, and the community at large to join us in celebrating the long and fabled history of the Strand Theater, its place in the heart of Lakewood, and its significance as a New Jersey performing arts venue. Many exciting events will be happening next year, and we anticipate a renewed interest the theater. Support of this important fundraising effort will help sustain the Theater's operations, community productions, special events and community arts education programs", said Camille Biamonte, Executive Director.
Designed by famous theater architect Thomas Lamb, the Strand opened in 1922, at a time when Lakewood was a popular playground for the rich and famous, including Grover Cleveland and John D. Rockefeller. Silent films, live vaudeville acts, pre-Broadway runs, and, with the advent of "talkies", life as a movie house were all parts of the theater's past. Today, The Strand is known as one of the best acoustical theaters in the nation and is a top live entertainment venue. Offerings include musicals, plays, concerts, dinner theater, and Back Stage Pass, where the audience sits on-stage with the performer for an intimate show. Additionally, professional training opportunities for youth are offered through the Strand School of the Arts.
The Strand Gallery, a beautifully-appointed banquet room located directly off the Theater lobby, is available for private events, including holiday parties, birthdays, weddings, and meetings.
In 1992, the theater received a $2.5 million grant to complete the interior restoration, and the theater was gloriously restored. The Strand has been undergoing several years of renovations with the support of Ocean County, the Township of Lakewood, the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority and many businesses, organizations, and individuals. The Strand is listed on both the New Jersey Register of Historic Places, and the National Register of Historic Places.
