Surflight Theatre presents Grease

(BEACH HAVEN, NJ) – Get ready for those 'summer nights’ with the Rydell High gang - Sandy, Danny, The Pink Ladies and The T-Birds, as Surflight Theatre’s Grease, the original high school musical, hits the Jersey Shore in an all-new production featuring the unforgettable songs from the hit motion picture: "You're The One That I Want," "Hopelessly Devoted To You," "Sandy," and the title song "Grease!" 

Under the leadership of Producer and Surflight alum Roy Miller, Surflight Theatre’s GREASE runs from June 22 through July 15.  Opening Night is scheduled for Thursday, June 23 at 8:00pm. 

Grease stars Broadway’s Meredith Patterson (White Christmas, 42nd Street) and Andrew Call (American Idiot, High Fidelity) as Sandy and Danny, the Food Network’s Marc Summers is Vince Fontaine, Katrina Rose Dideriksen (Rizzo), Dustin Brayley (Kenickie), Deon Oliverio (Doody), Anthony Ramos Martinez (Sonny), Chelsea Lovett (Marty), Tim Ehrlich (Roger), Shayla Benoit (Jan), Samia Mounts (Frenchy), Jeremy Gaston (Teen Angel/Johnny Casino), Dana Maddox (Cha-Cha), Carla Stewart (Miss Lynch), Erica Wasko (Patty Simcox), and Drew Gasparini (Eugene).

Directed by Jen Bender (Resident Director for Broadway’s The Lion King) and choreographed by Shea Sullivan, Grease features music direction by Jeremy Randall, scenic design by Charlie Smith, costume design by Jody Madaras, lighting design by Marciel Green, and sound design by Nevin Steinberg.  Bill Gilinsky is production stage manager.

In a statement, Surflight producer Roy Miller said, “When we decided to produce the show, we wanted to make an event of it and offer Surflight audiences something new and exciting. With the motion picture growing in popularity since its release in 1978, it seemed an obvious choice to incorporate these hit songs into our production.” This will also be a family friendly Grease.”

Featuring a book and score by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, Grease features classic tunes as “We Go Together,” “Summer Nights,” “Greased Lightning,” “Look at Me, I’m Sandra Dee,” “Beauty School Dropout” and “There Are Worse Things I Could Do.”

Surflight Theatre, 201 Engleside Avenue, is located in historic Beach Haven, New Jersey.  Grease performances are Tuesday at 2:00pm and 8:00pm; Wednesday at 2:00pm; Thursday at 2:00pm and 8:00pm; Friday at 8:00pm; Saturday at 8:00pm, and Sunday at 2:00pm.  Please note there will be an 8pm performance on Wednesday, June 22.  Tickets are $31- $49.  Season Subscriptions are still available.  Tickets are available online at www.surflight.org.  Tickets may also be purchased in person at the Surflight box office, by phone at 609-492-9477.  For groups (15 or more) call: 609-492-9477 x201.
