(Jersey City, NJ) -- Art House Productions and Insurgo Stage Project announce “Your Move,” an exciting new modern dance series to be held this November in downtown Jersey City. “Your Move” is Jersey City’s first-ever curated dance showcase designed to present emerging choreographers and celebrate the area’s burgeoning dance scene.
Performances will be held on a rotating roster on the following dates: Friday, Nov. 12 at 8pm, Saturday, Nov. 13 at 8pm, and Sunday, Nov. 14 at 2pm. Tickets are $10 in advance ($15 at the door), and can be purchased online at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/130712. Advanced purchase is recommended. Avianna Perez, director of Insurgo Stage Project, first conceptualized “Your Move” during a community-building event bringing together dancers, choreographers, and arts organizers last spring in downtown Jersey City. “Jersey City is home to so many dancers who are constantly commuting to New York City for their craft. “Your Move” is an excellent opportunity for Jersey City to join the greater NYC dance community and start to make a name for itself. This is just the start to our larger vision for a vibrant dance culture right here in Jersey City,” Perez said.
“Your Move” will highlight the work of local choreographers, 1/3 of which are Jersey City residents. Featured chorographers include: Stephanie Beauchamp; Kristen Collins and Keshia Robinson; Lauren Connolly; Victoria DeRenzo and Katie Stehura; Sarah Geroulo Rutledge and Trista Redavid Defilippis; Allison Jones; Cleo Mack; Nicole Mahncke; Erin Pride; Jonathan Riedel; Nicole Smith; Justin Tornow; Hee Ra Yoo.
This showcase is curated by Heather Favretto; Avianna Perez; Morgan Hille Refakis; and Meagan Woods.
Insurgo Stage Project and Art House Productions plan to continue this dance series, making it an annual event in Jersey City.
