(Asbury Park, NJ) -- ReVision Theatre, is pleased to present the East Coast Premiere of The Break-Up Notebook: The Lesbian Musical, produced by Special Arrangement with Red Shoes Productions.  With music and lyrics by Lori Scarlett, and book by Patricia Cotter (based on her play).  This production is set to be directed by Peter Schneider, with Musical Direction by Aaron Gandy, and choreography by Christine Lakin.

Peter Schneider is the Tony-Award-winning producer of the internationally acclaimed Broadway musical The Lion King and is the director of Sister Act, The Musical in London and My Life with Men… and Other Animals, starring Maria Cassi. His other directing projects include Marc Blitzstein's opera Regina, Glen Roven's Norman's Ark, The Break-Up Notebook, a revival of Grand Hotel, the Musical, as well as projects at the WPA Theatre, Playwrights Horizon and Circle Rep. He produced Elton John and Tim Rice's Aida on Broadway and is one of the producers of the New York hit The Marvelous Wonderettes and its sequel Life Could be a Dream.

He produced the award-winning documentary, Waking Sleeping Beauty, about Disney Animation from 1984 – 1994, which chronicles ten years Schneider's  seventeen-year tenure at the Walt Disney Company where he held several different titles, including President of Animation and Theatre and Chairman of the Studio. He was responsible for creating and distributing over fifty animated and live-action movies including The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, (Golden Globe Award), The Little Mermaid, Toy Story, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Remember the Titans and The Princess Diaries. In 2004, he directed a Live Action / Animation short starring Julie Andrews which celebrated the 40th anniversary of Mary Poppins.

Peter states, "I have loved the Break-Up Notebook project for so many years now, and was part of the development of the show in San Diego.  When I read and heard the work of Patricia Cotter and Lori Scarlett, I laugh and cried and was really moved by the characters.  The music is so original and the book genuinely funny.  I just find the story to be universal, and one that we all go thru and live to tell about it."

"In addition, as it turns out, I have known ReVision Theatre's Producing Artistic Director Tom Morrissey from our summer stock days 40 years ago. I love the diverse community in Asbury Park, and think the unique space of The Carousel House is a perfect match for this wonderful production."

The Break-Up Notebook story revolves around Helen Hill, a thirty-three year old lesbian who has recently been dumped. She is heartbroken, she's stunned and she's determined to go out there and do it all over again. So with the support of her best gay boyfriend, Bob and her butch femme gal pals, Monica and Joanie she jumps back into the dating pool. And what she finds takes her a bit by surprise...two-stepping twelve-steppers, anxiety prone lawyers, a dominatrix, Match.com, dental dams, grrrl bands, rebound bad dates, rebound great dates, hot girl on girl action, and maybe...just maybe...somewhere out there...Helen might find the girl of her dreams.

The incredibly talented cast features, Beth Malone, Christine Lakin, Briana Davis, Jamison Stern, Nadine Zahr, Natalie Wachen, Jenn Furman, Ariel Tyler Page, Melissa Hammans and Caitlin Lee Reid.
