ReVision Theatre Announces 2011 Season of Musicals!

(Asbury Park, NJ) -- ReVision Theatre a professional theatre company located in Asbury Park, NJ is proud to announce their exciting 2011 season of spectacular shows. "As a follow-up to ReVision's highly successful 2010 season, we knew we had to raise the bar yet again and 2011 will be no exception. We have expanded our programming from 2010 to include six productions this season. We have an exciting mix of well known titles, as well as a new musical and we managed to acquire three N.J. premieres," states Producing Associate Alecia Brooks. "Our audiences can rely on the fact that our mission always remains; A ReVision production of a known or new title will be a production that you could not see anywhere else". Get ready for the most exciting season yet!



The 2011 season will kick off with a benefit concert of the dazzling "One Night Only" DREAMGIRLS. (Winner of 6 Tony awards) With music by Academy Award nominee Henry Krieger and lyrics and book by Tony and Grammy-winning Tom Eyen, DREAMGIRLS features the unforgettable hits: "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going," "One Night Only", "I Am Changing", and "Listen." This once in a lifetime performance is not to be missed! The performance will take place at the historic Paramount Theatre on Saturday May 14 at 8 pm and is a benefit concert for ReVision Theatre. The summer season begins with the N.J. Premiere of XANADU. This hilarious, roller skating, musical adventure about following your dreams despite the limitations others set for you, rolls along to the original hit score composed by pop-rock legends Jeff Lynne and John Farrar, and includes, "Magic", "All Over The World", "Suddenly", "I'm Alive", "Evil Woman", "Have You Never Been Mellow" and "Xanadu", to name a few, and is based on the Universal Pictures' cult classic movie of the same title, which starred Olivia Newton-John and Gene Kelly. Performances run from July 7 – July 24 at The Carousel House on the boardwalk in Asbury Park.



In August, ReVision is proud to announce the N.J. Regional Debut of SPRING AWAKENING. The winner of 8 Tony Awards, including Best Musical - told by Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater through "the most gorgeous Broadway score this decade" (Entertainment Weekly) - SPRING AWAKENING explores the journey from adolescence to adulthood with poignancy and passion you will never forget. The landmark musical SPRING AWAKENING is an electrifying fusion of morality, sexuality and rock & roll that is exhilarating audiences across the nation like no other musical in years. Perfomances run (August 4 – August 28) at The Carousel House.



September brings the East Coast Premiere of a new musical THE BREAK-UP NOTEBOOK, with music and lyrics by Lori Scarlett, and book by Patricia Cotter (based on her play). THE BREAK-UP NOTEBOOK is set to be directed by Peter Schneider (Former President of Animation and Chairman of the Studio for the Walt Disney Company for 17 years, Schneider was responsible for creating and distributing over 50 movies including The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, (Golden Globe Award Winner), Little Mermaid, Toy Story, Roger Rabbit, Remember the Titans and Princess Diaries). It may be hard to do, but breaking up is uproarious in this brand-new runaway musical! Performances run (September 8 – September 25) at The Carousel House.



October sets the stage for LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS. Book and lyrics by Howard Ashman and music by Alan Menken, this horticultural cult classic will have you screaming with horror and delight. One of the longest-running Off-Broadway shows of all time, this affectionate spoof of 1950s sci-fi movies has become a house-hold name, thanks to a highly successful film version and a score by the songwriting team of Howard Ashman and Alan Menken. LITTLE SHOP composed by Menken in the style of early 1960s rock and roll, doo-wop and early Motown, includes several well-known tunes, including the title song, "Skid Row (Downtown)", "Somewhere That's Green", and "Suddenly, Seymour". Audiences should expect to see a production of this show unlike any other! Performances run (October 6 – October 31) at The Carousel House.



A family holiday show is scheduled to be performed in December at The Paramount Theatre, title to be announced. Please stay tuned for more info on this show.
