Roxey Ballet adds additional weekend of Nutcracker Performances

(Lambertville, NJ) - Roxey Ballet Company of Lambertville, NJ has just added additional performances to its already scheduled  Thanksgiving weekend performances of "The American Holiday Tradition "Nutcracker". The performances will be held on Saturday November 27, 2010 at 3:00pm and 7:00pm, Sunday, November 28, 2010 at 1:00pm and 4:00 pm, and Monday November 29, 2010 at 10:000am  with a special school matinee. In addition to the previously announced performances the company in partnership with the College of New Jersey as added an additional weekend of performances which will take place on December 4, 2010 at 3:00 & 7:00, December 5, 2010 at 1:00pm and 4:00pm. The Roxey Ballet's production has become, without question one of  New Jersey and Pennsylvania's most popular holiday traditions. The lavish production features professional dancers of the Roxey Ballet Company as well as over one hundred dancing children and adults from around the Hunterdon, Mercer, Somerset and Bucks counties who will perform in roles that include party goers, giant rats, spinning snow flakes, tiny mice, dancing flowers, Mother Ginger and her flock of polichinelles. The production features hundreds of  beautifully created costumes by Alicia Worden and Nilda Jones. The scenic elements rival  many productions typically seen on New York and Philadelphia stages.

The story opens as Clara dreams of her handsome prince. After young Clara receives a wooden Nutcracker as a Christmas gift from a mysterious party guest, she finds herself in the midst of a battle between the Mouse King and the Nutcracker and his soldiers. After his victory, the magical spell is broke and Clara and the Nutcracker go on a voyage to the Land of the Sweets where experience dancing snowflakes, Spanish, Russian, Chinese and Arabian Dancers as well as the the Sugar Plum Fairy and her handsome Cavalier.
